THE SKINNY: Blendercleanser is a lavender-scented soy cleaner designed for the Beautyblender makeup sponge. It can be used on makeup brushes, as well, which is how I gave it a test drive.
This is a heavier-duty soap meant to remove bacteria and oil in addition to eye shadows, blushes and powders. It has the consistency of a liquid soap, so just a little dab is enough for brushes of any size. (I poured a small amount into a dish and let the brush soak it up.) Gently work the brush into a lather, rinse well and let dry.
I do a light cleaning on my brushes pretty regularly, and I was amazed at how much makeup came out of the center of my brushes. But it’s not something I want to do more than a few times a year. The cleanser is thick, and you have to get the brush wet to rinse it all out. Then it takes a bit of time for those brushes to dry. (The company says the soy-based cleaner helps to moisturize your brushes while washing them.)
It’s also expensive for a product I won’t use often, especially because I don’t have a Beautyblender sponge.
KEEP OR TOSS: Keep. This will be handy when I need to scrub a dark color out of a makeup brush.
