THE SKINNY: I was skeptical of a face cleansing oil, and I was right. While I wanted to like the new Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil, my face did not at all.

It led to a pretty massive breakout.

Maybe because my skin tends to be somewhat sensitive and on the oily side already?

Regardless, it was not a good fit.

But that's OK because the texture did not feel clean -- it was pretty runny -- and the smell is rather offensive. (It smells kind of like a bad orange.)

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil

COST: $50 for 16.9 ounces

THE SKINNY: I was not sure what to expect from a shower oil, but with the L'Occitane name on it I knew it would be good. And it was.

The oil transformed into a thick, rich soapy later when it hit my wet skin. It cleaned and made every inch of me feel soft and smooth.

Plus this shower oil smells just as good as the body oil from the same line. I might be in love with almond products this winter!

L'Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil

COST: $42 for 3.4 ounces

THE SKINNY: I am not a big fan of oils in general. They tend to leave a little too much mess behind.

L'Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil is different. The almond oil goes on smooth, soaks in quickly and leaves skin feeling pretty amazing. (Especially in the winter time.)

And the smell ... that's really what had me hooked. The almond aroma is fresh and nice. I kept catching whiffs of it all day.

This stuff is packed with skin goodness, too -- almond oil, omega 6 and camelina oil, which is rich in omega 3. My small bottle did not have a spray top but the larger sizes do.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

COST: $9.50

THE SKINNY: Tea tree oil can do wonders for skin if you are not bothered by the smell. The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil is an afforable option that works very well.

The light oil can be applied on skin to relieve irritation, heal blemishes and generally soothe skin. I recently used it to help heal some light scarring from a horrible case of poison ivy and my skin started looking and feeling better almost immediately.

Granted tea tree oil does leave quite a scent behind. I recommend taking a sniff test before purchasing, because the aroma lingers for quite a while.

This oil also does a good job without actually feeling oily. It fades into skin quickly so you don't have to worry about it staining clothes.

Josie Maran Infinity Lip and Cheek Oil

COST: $18

THE SKINNY: I was not sure what to think of a lip and cheek oil to be quite honest. I have been hot and cold on Josie Maran products as well. But Josie Maran Infinity Lip and Cheek Oil was a pretty nice option -- for lips.

The color was bright (much like the package) and went on and looked a lot like a gloss. You could feel the moisture and I liked the way it looked on. Plus, as far as a lip gloss is concerned, it was not overly sticky.

As a cheek stain, I will pass on future use. It was too thick and creamy for that part of my face. I could feel it on and did not like how much different that part of my face felt.

So I guess I am still hot and cold on this one. Go for it as a lip product, but pass on the cheeks.

Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil

THE SKINNY: Although this product says "face" on the label, I was not that brave. It is straight up oil.

My skin is oily.

Not a good combination.

But this product does work wonderfully for the rest of your body. It was a great moisturizer for my legs and got rid of some flakiness that had been hanging around.

But it is an oil. And was a bit oily.

Use it before bed. Don't use it with when you are planning to put on nice clothes.

Nourish Organic Argan Face Serum

COST: $23.99 for .7 ounces

THE SKINNY: Argan oil seems to be everywhere these days. But somehow I had yet to actually try a serum with the stuff.

Nourish Organic Argan Face Serum is a nice option. Made with argan oil plus a few others, this oil serum goes on smooth and does not leave your face looking shiny. The formula is virtually fragrance-free and can be used alone (most likely at night) or under moisturizer or makeup.

I like the idea of using a more natural product without so many unpronounceable ingredients. As a matter of fact, I can easy name each of the seven ingredients in this vegan product. 

And it make my skin look pretty good too. It added nice moisture. I am beginning to really be sold on oils in general.

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil

THE SKINNY: For Valentine's Day, it is only appropriate to review something I absolutely LOVE. I am not sure how I ever lived without Ole Henriksen's Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil. It is hands-down the best product I have tried in years.

This citrus-based oil is thin and light and is used on the face and neck to really improve the overall quality of skin.

A while back, a Sephora clerk poured a little sample for me and it lasted 6 months. So just a drop will do it. It recently hit shelves -- hopefully to stay -- and I was first in line to buy it. 

And you don't really have to change your routine to get the benefits of this powerful product. You can use Pure Truth in addition to your regular moisturizer (that's how I do it) in the morning or night. I like to use it as a little wake me up in the morning because of the great orange scent.
