Bumble & Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil

THE SKINNY: I recently read in Allure magazine that argan oil can leave a little unwanted color behind if you have light-colored hair. (Typically in the form of a reddish tint.)

Bumble & Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil packs most of the same benefits of argan oil for hair but in a clear oil. (It's actually a blend of six oils.) This product sprays on damp hair and then you style as usual to help add shine and softness and time flyaway strands.

It works pretty well but you have to be careful with it. Too many spritzes and hair just looks ... well ... oily. (I have this same issue with argan oil products as well.)

But I do like the coating quite a bit for a day at the pool or beach. The oil also provides a UV protective layer to help shield your color from the sun.

Organix Kukui Oil

COST: $7.99

THE SKINNY: I had really high hopes for this product and that it would beat the cold, dry-air hair static that has been plaguing me for months.

It helped, but did not eliminate the problem.

Organix Kukui Oil is design to hydrate hair, block humidity and add sine and sheen. It was ok, but overall just an average product. Maybe I am just using it the wrong time of the year ... I will pull this back out in the more humid summer months.

I am still on the hunt for a great finishing spray. If you know of one, please let me know in the comments!

KEEP OR TOSS: Keep, but it is unlikely that I will buy it again.

CHECK IT OUT: Generally, the Organix line has been one of my favorites and it is almost always on sale at Ulta.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil

THE SKINNY: Bumble and Bumble's blend of essential oils isn't made for blondes.

Work a little Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil into damp hair to add softness and shine and help prevent frizz and flyaway pieces. You then style your hair as you normally would, either with tools or by letting it air dry.

But unlike a lot of other oil-based hair products, this one left my super short hair looking greasy.

Because my hair is really too short for accurate testing, I gave it to a friend who has naturally blonde, fine, naturally curly long hair (down to the middle of her back). She had the same result. Did leave her hair feeling super soft and healthy, but did also leave her blonde hair looking dirty after an hour or so.

So blondes, beware.

KEEP OR TOSS: For me, it's a toss.

Living Proof Satin Style Serum

COST: $29 for 1.5 ounces

THE SKINNY: I could see the oil dripping from my hair. Which is funny since Living Proof Satin Style Serum contains no oils.

Whatever is in it, it made my hair gross. Slimy, oily, greasy.

You could even see it in a ponytail.

I guess I can understand how it would tame frizz. But this is a definite don't for me. It was so bad I went back and double checked that I had, in fact, followed the instructions. The tiny packet said to use all of the serum, rub between hands and smooth in damp hair (while avoiding the roots). Then blow dry or style as usual.

I did everything right, but this product was all wrong.

And I am so utterly disappointed. I have fallen in love with the Living Proof brand until this point. At least the sample was free and I did not fork over real money for the full size.

KEEP OR TOSS: Toss.

CHECK IT OUT: This is the first and only Living Proof product that I have not been thrilled with. You can find the full line online and in stores.

Cristalli Liquidi Hair Serum

COST: $12 for 0.5 ounces

THE SKINNY: It really took me a while to warm up to the idea of hair oils and serums. But now I am hooked. Just a drop or two and your hair is smooth and flawless all day long.

And it you ware worried about oiliness or greasiness ... stop. They don't make your hair look dirty. 

Cristalli Liquidi Hair Serum works just as well as any other that I have tried. The light oil goes on smooth -- a dab is plenty for all of your hair. Apply from the nape of the neck down for best results. (I am still a little wary of putting the stuff in my scalp due to flatness concerns.)

The little liquid holds against flyaways and static, leaving hair skinny and smooth.

Cristalli Liquidi is made with Vitamin E, which is great for skin and hair, and can be used on color-treated hair.
